Taylor Swift, Rihanna Dress To Impress At Billboard Awards
Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez also make fashion splash on red carpet, as showgirl style rules at the Las Vegas event on Sunday night.

<P>On Sunday night, some of the biggest names in the music industry hit up the <a href="/news/articles/1664375/billboard-music-awards-recap-justin-bieber-selena-gomez-kiss.jhtml"><i>Billboard</i> Music Awards</a> in Las Vegas and decided that sparkles and sequins make for the perfect additions to any red carpet get-up. Well, it is Sin City after all. <a href="/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit. <a href="/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a> turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Like Gomez, <a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> opted for some cut-out detailing in her sparkly, slate-gray dress with tulle skirt. <a href="/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> looked white hot in her men's tailored Max Azria suit, which she kept sexy and feminine by not buttoning her shirt all the way. Fergie went S&M chic in her little black bandage-type dress by Hervé Léger. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories. While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress. The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Joe Jonas wore all black with white sneakers, Ne-Yo paired his periwinkle suit with a Yankees cap and Justin Bieber wore black tuxedo pants with a gold-lamé tuxedo jacket. <i>Which stars' styles caught your eye at the </i>Billboard<i> Music Awards? The 19-year-old is the latest teen star to appear on the cover of <i>Cosmopolitan,</i> following last month's issue of the women's magazine, featuring 17-year-old Dakota Fanning. For her first cover for the magazine, Gomez dons a low-cut, floral-print dress as she looks rather seductively into the camera. Nick Jonas?) who didn't make things as easy on her. "I was in a relationship previously where I had to hide everything and it wasn't my choice. I had to go through different exits and take separate cars and do the craziest things, and it just really wasn't worth it," she explained. "It was like a year of my life completely wasted." The more mature magazine cover comes as <a href="/news/articles/1676848/selena-gomez-plans-wizards-of-waverly-place.jhtml">Gomez prepares for the next phase of her career</a>. In the coming weeks, she'll hit the set for her next film, the <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/11/29/selena-gomez-spring-breakers/">more adult-themed "Spring Breakers,"</a> which follows a group of college girls who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break. When they land in jail, a drug and arms dealer bails them out, and they quickly become entangled with him and his business. "It's a different character than I have ever played before," she told MTV News about the film, which will be directed by "Kids" mastermind Harmony Korine. "It's a different kind of vibe I think than people are used to seeing me in. What you're going to see is more raw, I think. Nicki Minaj Shows Off 'Big Talent' On 'Starships'
'We did something really fresh that's out of this world,' producer RedOne tells MTV News about working on Minaj's Roman Reloaded.

Nicki Minaj channels her inner-pop princess on her new single "Starships," which dropped Tuesday (February 14). The track certainly sounds like it would fit in perfectly on pop radio, nestled in between hits by Britney Spears and Katy Perry.
"Starships" is a fist-pumping anthem about having a good time. Produced by RedOne, it is certainly the perfect song for those who enjoyed shaking their groove thang to "Super Bass." The lighthearted, feel-good vibe of the song is perfect for casual Barbz to blast.
It's hard not to see Spears' influence on the rapper/singer when listening to the song, and given that the two toured together last year, Minaj may be trying to remind her pop fans that she has an ear for what they want.
MTV News recently caught up with RedOne, who had only the kindest words for the Brooklyn-bred MC. "Working with Nicki is amazing, 'cause she's so talented," he said. "There's nothing that inspires me more than raw, really good talent, big talent. I see that in Nicki, and of course, she's proven to be who she is."
The song not only is pure pop perfection, but RedOne's influence is evident, thanks to its grinding Euro dance beats. "For me, [it was] a beautiful experience," he said. "There's a lot of love there. We respect each other a lot, and I think it's really key. We've done a few songs, and I think it's going to be very, very special. I'm excited."
"Starships" serves as a tease to what the super-producer and Minaj are cooking up in the studio, but RedOne promises some surprises. "I think we did something really fresh that's out of this world," he said. "I'm really excited for the world to hear what we've done together."
The love is certainly mutual. Minaj recently dished about the creation of the song. "There was so much love surrounding the making of the song, because RedOne is just so sweet to work with," Minaj said. "He just sent me that one day, and he said, 'Hey, I got something for you!' I was like, 'You got to be kidding me, right?' I went to the studio and started writing ... scratch that ... I didn't even write the first verse! That was just me mumbling and just saying the first thing that came to my head, and we recorded it, because I just felt like: 'Let's go to the beach ... let's go get away.' It was just so good. It feels good!"
"Starships" is the latest track from Minaj's April 1 release, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. On Sunday, she gave fans an over-the-top taste of "Roman Holiday" when she performed it during the Grammys.

I went to the premiere on Tuesday and it was the coolest thing ever. First, the movie is AMAZING and Chris Evans is a superstar. Second, there were so many damn people there it was insane. I have been to movie premieres in New York before and they were nothing like this. I mean, they closed down Hollywood Boulevard. I would've taken photos to show you, but the invite said to leave phones in the car. But here's a photo of me in my cool Captain America 3D glasses:

Tareq Salahi Sues Neal Schon For $50 Million; Cites Humiliation, Metaphorical Slap in the Face
Tareq Salahi claims that Neal Schon ruined his entire life and is suing the Journey rocker, who ran off with his reality star wife Michaele, for $50 million dollars.
The lawsuit was just filed by Salahi in Virginia.
Tareq says he and Michaele Salahi were on track to make a huge fortune together from multiple reality TV shows including Dancing with the Stars ... yeah right.
According to the suit, they had an offer to participate on the Australian DWTS in 2011 ... for $150,000. Not a bad chunk of change, but a fortune? Really?
Plus, he claims, the White House party crashers also had an offer to appear on another network TV show in the U.S. Which he does not name, of course.
Tareq claims the TV shows pulled their offers when Michaele Salahi ran off with Neal Schon last fall, and that Schon waged a campaign to humiliate him.
Tareq says Schon used the affair to inflict suffering upon him, emailing a pic of his penis and calling him on the phone to tell him, "I'm f**king your wife!"
In the suit, Tareq claims, "The act was a metaphorical slap in the face." Negative points for filing a frivolous lawsuit, but bonus points for not saying "literally."
Tareq claims Schon humiliated him in public, too, as the publicity would increase interest in Journey's tour ... which resulted in a major attendance boost.
Tareq is demanding at least $50 million for emotional distress, conspiracy to defame, interfering with a contract and defamation ... plus punitive damages.

Whitney Houston: Her Five Greatest Soundtrack Contributions
Late singer/actress' work in movies was inextricably linked to her music.

The late Whitney Houston may have only appeared in front of the camera in four feature films during her lifetime, but when a soundtrack featured the singer, best-selling albums and awards followed in her wake.
Houston's soundtrack contribution became synonymous with chart-topping albums, some among the best-selling of all time, so in her memory, we're taking a look back at some of her most significant musical efforts in film and the records she broke in the process.
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody" on the "13 Going on 30" Soundtrack
Almost 20 years after its initial release, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" was re-released as part of the soundtrack for the 2004 Jennifer Garner film "13 Going on 30." The album was made up mostly of the biggest hits of the late '80s, including Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Madonna's "Crazy for You." The soundtrack did not earn the awards or prestige of Houston's other credits, but the song's re-release brought it to a younger generation and reaffirmed its rightful place alongside the decade's most influential singles.
"Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" from "Waiting to Exhale"
Houston's second starring role resulted in another big soundtrack hit. The lead single from the album, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," sold more than 1 million copies and went platinum. The song earned four nominations at the 1997 Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year, and walked away with Best R&B Song. Written by Babyface, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" was just one of the many successful collaborations Houston would have with the famous producer.
"The Preacher's Wife" Soundtrack
Houston's last major film appearance before her death also brought about a record-breaking release for the artist. Houston performed all the songs on the soundtrack for "The Preacher's Wife," in which she starred opposite Academy Award winner Denzel Washington. The album itself went on to sell an estimated 6 million copies and became the best-selling gospel album of all time.
"When You Believe" from "The Prince of Egypt"
As one half of a duo that's sure to go down in R&B history, Houston performed "When You Believe" off of the "Prince of Egypt" soundtrack with Mariah Carey. The song only found moderate success on the Billboard charts, but the biggest honor came Oscar night, when the writer of "When You Believe," Stephen Schwartz, took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song in March 1999. Houston and Carey performed at the awards shortly before winning the honor.
"The Bodyguard" Soundtrack
Houston's greatest musical contribution to film is also the album she'll be most remembered for. The soundtrack for the 1992 film "The Bodyguard," co-starring Kevin Costner, surpassed all expectations of motion-picture soundtracks up until that time and became one of the best-selling albums in history. Ranking fourth in sales, only behind Michael Jackson's Thriller, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and AC/DC's Back in Black, the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard" also took home the Grammy for Album of the Year. The most recognizable song of Houston's career, a cover of Dolly Parton's song "I Will Always Love You," was the first of three singles from the album to break the Billboard top 20. Houston was the first female artist to have three songs on the list at the same time.

The song gets a bit dirtier and introspective thanks to verses from the guys that play up the track's bumping beat. Wiz kicks it off, rapping about designer clothes and his lady love, Amber Rose. "OK, I'm young and I'm tatted/ I get them bucks like an addict/ Rocking this Christian Dior/ I spend so much on my fabric/ I got a wifey at home/ And what she wants she can have it," he spits before going on about chilling on the beach, being rich and his prowess in the bedroom. Sitting in between Wiz and Tip is Andre's recycled verse, before T.I. gets his shot and gets sexy, asking Ke$ha, "Do you know what to do with me?" before he launches into a verse all about how good he is to the ladies. "Bad bitches know me/ So don't bother introducing me/ They want me more than diamonds," he brags before explaining that it has a lot to do with his impressive anatomy. Wayne closes it out, adding his own signature flair. "We be on that sh-- that no one be on/ That's what we on/ Smoke that neon, Kings of Leon/ Dynamite, Napoleon/ Got some skinnies and a tee on/ And some Vans," he rhymes about his famous sense of Weezy-fied style before the song circles back to the funky chorus, where Ke$ha declares that she doesn't "need you or your brand-new Benz/ Or your bougie friends/ I don't need love lookin' like diamonds/ Lookin' like diamonds." If any of K's fans or critics were wondering if she has the swagger to chill with the guys, she displayed some of her sass when she <a href="http://twitter.com/#!/KESHASUXX" target="_blank">tweeted</a> about the remix. "Question ANIMALS ... who can say they got with Lil Wayne, T.I., Andre 3000 and Wiz Khalifa on a f---ing hot track??" she asked. "ill give u one clue ... 'Hunger Games' Film A 'Very Faithful Adaptation'
Author Suzanne Collins even worked on the last draft of the script, director Gary Ross tells MTV News.

Thanks to a recent sit-down with charismatic director Gary Ross, we've gotten a great glimpse into what we can expect from the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' dystopian bestseller when it hits theaters on March 23.
When we asked Ross about his interaction with Collins, we were delighted to learn that he and the author had formed a close bond and ended up working on the script together and that Ross was completely impressed by the author's talents as a screenwriter.
"She wrote the last draft of the script with me," Ross said. "We collaborated. We were in a room together! We locked ourselves up in a room and literally wrote the last draft of the script together. It was a blast. I hadn't worked with anybody else as a team since Anne Spielberg on 'Big,' so just being in a room with someone was a phenomenal experience. Just having the electricity of two writers was great."
Ross went on to assure us and the millions of other "Hunger Games" fans that the movie version is as faithful as it could be, given the different parameters of the two mediums.
"It's very, very faithful in the literal sense, but it's even more faithful in the tonal sense. My job is to give you that same visceral feeling you felt when you read the book," Ross explained, adding that he wants audiences to experience the film from Katniss' perspective. "[I want you] to feel that same kind of urgency, feel that same uncertainty she feels, to feel uncertain about Peeta's motivations — that's essential."
Finally, we asked Ross if we should prepare for any major deviations in the movie from the book, and he said there is nothing to prepare for in that sense.
"Oh no. No, no, no. It's a faithful adaptation. There are obviously differences, because I'm adapting a book to the screen, but no," he said. "It's not like Peeta leaves the story or anything like that."

<P>Some artists, like <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, release albums that are pure <a href="/news/articles/1678825/grammy-2012-album-of-year-adele-profile.jhtml">Grammy catnip</a> thanks to instant-classic sounds that resonate with the Recording Academy's way-back contingent. Then there's Lady Gaga. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:717202" width="240" height="211"></div><p> She's been a bridesmaid twice for Album of the Year at the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys">Grammys</a>, losing out on her first two releases. But with her third bid on Sunday, for <a href="/news/articles/1664105/lady-gaga-born-this-way-stream.jhtml"><i>Born This Way,</i></a> Gaga appears to have made the kind of career-defining, big-idea album that Grammy voters could not deny. It had all the things the Academy loves in an Album of the Year nominee: ambition, deeply personal tracks that provide a glimpse at the artist's psyche, bold musical explorations, strong sales and chance to prove that they're hip enough to get what the kids are listening to. (Or, in some cases, a new album by Steely Dan.) And, indeed, BTW <i>did</i> have it all, from the jackhammer electronica of "Marry the Night" to the tango-lite grooves of "Americano," the techno attack of "Heavy Metal Lover," hints of biography in "Hair," the lighter-raising ballads in "Yoü and I" and "The Edge of Glory" and, of course, the title track, which served as both a dance-floor phenomenon <i>and</i> an <a href="/news/articles/1657772/lady-gaga-born-this-way.jhtml">empowerment anthem</a> for the ages. The album, one of the most anticipated of 2011, not only <a href="/news/articles/1664888/lady-gaga-billboard.jhtml">crashed the charts</a> with stellar sales figures of more than one million in its first week, but it also managed to once again bend the will of the music-buying public to meet her quirky, unpredictable muse. Gaga promised her fans that she was pouring everything she had into the disc and when it arrived, complete with a series of trippy, <a href="/news/articles/1663387/lady-gaga-judas-video.jhtml">provocative videos</a> that also pushed the envelope, they couldn't have asked for any more from their Mother Monster. Frequent musical collaborator producer Fernando Garibay said the recognition from the Recording Academy was a nice cherry-topper to a year of hard, hard work. "We worked on this album for so long and it was like our baby so it was more about if the fans would love it; that was the most important thing.," he told MTV News. "But of course, nominations, yeah, that's cool." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:732837.id:1678680" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The first full-length effort from Gaga since her rise to international stardom, <i>Born This Way</i> allowed the singer to exorcise some demons, comment on her newfound fame and, of course, create the kind of over-the-top tracks that would lend themselves to equally eye-popping live performance. "This album was the most personal, the amount of detail that went into this record, the amount of passion and emotion from her and the team," Garibay said. "We all followed her lead on this, on every song ... how intense every avenue of making this record was for us, protecting the record, creative, conceptually, every song was a story towards the <i>Born This Way</i> theme." The video for the title track took the Best Female Video and Best Video With a Message at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. In a year in which she kept turning heads with ever-more-insane red carpet walks, Gaga fittingly raised the bar further at the show, where she performed and accepted the Female Video Moonman as her male <a href="/news/articles/1669863/lady-gaga-best-female-video-vmas.jhtml">alter ego, Jo Calderone</a>. In between those appearances, Gaga also managed to circle the globe with the Broadway-worthy <a href="/news/articles/1664768/lady-gaga-semi-precious-weapons-monster-ball.jhtml">Monster Ball Tour</a>, on which she brought the new songs to life every night in a spectacle that was the visual equal of her studio experiments. Though she worked with her core team, which includes Garibay, producer RedOne and DJ White Shadow, Gaga also opened the doors to collaborations with late Bruce Springsteen saxophonist Clarence Clemons and classic rock producer <a href="/news/articles/1669108/lady-gaga-you-and-i-music-video-premiere.jhtml">Robert "Mutt" Lange</a> and Queen guitarist Brian May, who helped give "Yoü and I" its epic, AM radio majesty. Gaga was so excited to record the album that she insisted on having a portable studio with her at all times to work on new music even as she toured the world for <i>The Fame Monster,</i> RedOne said. The road work paid off, as the album has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, spinning off a bevy of hits, including the title track, "Marry the Night," "Judas," "Yoü and I" and "The Edge of Glory." And though he's been there before, RedOne added that getting another nod for the biggest Grammy honor of all is new every time. Taylor Swift will sit down with MTV News' Sway Calloway on Monday (February 13) for "MTV First: Taylor Swift," during which she will premiere her video for "Safe & Sound," followed by an exclusive 30-minute chat.
Swift isn't new at getting the "First" treatment. In May 2011, she sat down with Sway for "MTV First" to premiere her video for "The Story of Us." During their interview, Swift got personal, even sharing what she loves to do most in her hometown of Nashville, among other things.
Before Monday's latest installment of "MTV First" with Ms. Swift, MTV News is taking a look back at her finest revelations from the May 2011 episode.
What does Taylor like to do in Nashville?
"Nashville ... you want to go to Hillsboro Village 'cause it's really cute — this little bohemian shopping district. It's walking distance from my place. There's this coffee place, Fido, that I love. There's a restaurant called City House that's really cool," she said. "I love the grocery store. The grocery store's one of my favorite places."
Where's the weirdest place she's ever written a song?
"The weirdest place I have ever written a song is probably in an airport, and I got an idea so fast that I just had to run to the bathroom at the airport, grab a paper towel and write lyrics on the paper towel," she said. "I still have it. I still have it in a box in my room."
What place in time would Taylor most want to travel to if she could?
"I would want to see, probably, New York City around the turn of the century," she said. " 'Cause, you know, it looks drastically different now than how it probably looked back then, and I just think that would be really exciting."
So, how much do Sway and Swift like each other? "That was a wonderful, wonderful experience," she said of meeting Sway for the first time in 2008 for the MTV special "Once Upon a Prom." From there, the pair relived all their greatest interview moments — including chats on red carpets for shows like the VMAs and the Grammy Awards. The gentlemanly Sway later handed her flowers. And so it seems there's no lack of love there.
Come Monday night, expect Sway and Taylor to make more memories, and you never know what interesting insider tidbits Swift will share.
"Safe & Sound" is the lead single off the "Hunger Games" soundtrack and features the Civil Wars. Following Monday's video premiere — which will also air live on MTV's channels in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa — the Grammy-nominated singer will sit down with Sway for a 30-minute interview on MTV.com. Fans of the superstar can get in on the action by submitting questions via Twitter @MTVNews with the hashtags #AskTaylor or #MTVFirst.
CMT will air "Safe & Sound" at 8 p.m. ET, the same time the music video will debut exclusively online at MTV.com, CMT.com, VH1.com and MTV's international sites. On Tuesday morning, VH1's "Big Morning Buzz Live" will feature the video at 10 a.m. ET/PT.
The "Hunger Games" soundtrack, which also features Arcade Fire and the Decemberists, drops March 20. The movie hits theaters on March 23.

<P>Few people will forget where they were when they heard that the King of Pop, <a href="/news/articles/1614744/michael-jackson-dies-at-50.jhtml">Michael Jackson, had died</a> in June 2009. And now, the same can be said for 1980s and '90s <a href="/news/articles/1679029/whitney-houston-dead.jhtml">Queen of Pop Whitney Houston</a>. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:733106.id:1679030" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The beloved, long-suffering singer died Saturday inside a Beverly Hills hotel room, hours before she was expected to attend a <a href="/news/articles/1679046/whitney-houston-dies-grammys-clive-davis.jhtml">pre-Grammy Awards party thrown by her longtime mentor Clive Davis</a>. And while the official cause of death is yet unknown — what's been speculated so far is that <a href="/news/articles/1679049/whitney-houston-dies-details.jhtml">Houston may have drowned</a> in the bathtub after taking prescription drugs, including Xanax — given her very public struggle with substance abuse, depression and anxiety over the past decade, it's hard not to conclude that some drug- or alcohol-related accident may have been to blame. It's much like, most recently, British singer Amy Winehouse and the late, great Michael Jackson before her, who died after taking a fatal cocktail of propofol and two other drugs. Also like Jackson, Houston's sudden death — at the age of 48 — has stopped the world in its tracks, an enormous, one-of-a-kind musical flame forever extinguished. Even Jackson's brother, Jermaine — who was first introduced to Houston years ago by Clive Davis at the same Beverly Hills Hilton where the singer passed away — could not help but draw the comparison. In an interview with CNN overnight, he paid tribute to the two fallen musical giants. "They shared a lot of success in the late '80s and they were great friends," he said. "I'm happy and honored to have been a part of their lives." And oh, what lives they led: Like Jackson — who died at just 50 years old, after years of struggling with personal demons — Houston, too, had an intensely profound and everlasting impact on the world of entertainment. Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson and countless other chart-topping entertainers have all name-checked her as their musical mentor, icon and inspiration: To date, she is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with more than 170 million albums, songs and videos sold. In her lifetime, Houston achieved what precious few of them have or ever will — stacking an astonishing 415 awards, including six Grammys, two Emmys, 22 American Music Awards, 30 <i>Billboard</i> Awards. Her voice, in its prime, was a national treasure. "X Factor" mastermind Simon Cowell may have summed it up the best: On "Piers Morgan Tonight," he said, "She was one of the greatest voices in our lifetime. Whitney was the number one singer that other singers want to emulate. People like that can't be manufactured. They've either got, it or they don't." He added, "You will always remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news." <P>After <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> confirmed her <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">engagement to longtime beau Jason Trawick</a> last Friday, fans wanted to know everything about the ring, a four-carat diamond designed by Neil Lane. Trawick — Brit's former agent — popped the question after working with famed jeweler Lane on the design, according to <a href="http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2011/12/18/jason-trawick-britney-spears-engagement-ring" target="_blank">People.com</a>. The site also reported that Trawick wanted a crown-like band. In addition to the mega-sparkler at the center of the tiara-style setting, the hubby-to-be also had 90 small round diamonds added around the band. Spears debuted the ring during a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her fiancé's birthday. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!" Lane told the website. "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone." Minya Oh, the author of "Bling Bling: Hip Hop's Crown Jewels," told MTV News she was pleasantly surprised by how understated the rock is. "The ring is so damn classy! It's [four] carats, which by Hollywood standards these days is practically microscopic," Oh said. "The setting is a tiny crown but both that and the thin diamond-studded band are done so delicately, from afar the focus is still on that bright white center stone. Nothing about the ring overwhelms her hand, and nothing screams, 'Please believe my relationship is real!' " She added, "This is the kind of ring a pop icon has when they're ready for something that means more than just the ring." This is hardly Spears' first engagement ring, however. All this talk about rocks got us thinking about some other celebrity proposals, so we decided to spotlight a few memorable engagement rings. <big><b>Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries</b></big><br> When it comes to size, Spears' ring from Trawick is small compared to <a href="/news/articles/1664525/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-engagement.jhtml">Kim Kardashian's monster-size rock</a>. When Kris Humphries popped the question earlier this year, he gave her a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond. Of course, the size of the ring didn't guarantee lasting marital bliss: the couple <a href="/news/articles/1673465/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-divorce-statement.jhtml">split after 72 days</a> of marriage. <big><b> Beyoncé & Jay-Z</b></big><br> Like Humpdash, Jay-Z, who is expecting his first <a href="/news/articles/1669849/beyonce-pregnant-vmas.jhtml">child with wife Beyoncé</a>, also went the Lorraine Schwartz route. He gave his pop-star lady love an 18-carat ring back in 2007.
